NEW DELHI: Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is undergoing chemotherapy in Boston for a rare germ cell cancer, is in the last leg of his treatment and is eagerly waiting for it to end in the next four days.

The flamboyant left-hander has said that only four days are left for his chemotherapy.

"My last stretch 4 mor dys to go Can't wait fr it to end Set me free dear lord," Yuvraj tweeted.

Yuvraj had last month stated that the tumour between his lungs is almost out of his system.

The 30-year-old has gone bald during the treatment, which will go on till the last week of March before the process of rehabilitation starts in April.

Thousands converge at shrine for Hola Mohalla

Tens of thousands of people from across Punjab and other parts of India converged at the Sikh holy shrine of Takht Keshgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib town Thursday to be part of the three-day Hola Mohalla festival which coincides with Holi the Hindu festival of colours. As people offered

prayers and were later part of the Hola Mohalla celebrations at the shrine, it was a virtual sea of humanity.
Anandpur Sahib located about 85 km from Chandigarh is the second most important shrine of Sikh religion. It was here in 1699 that the tenth Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh baptised five men and founded the Khalsa Panth which is the modern day Sikh religion.

Elsewhere in Punjab the festival of Holi was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm.

Youngsters and families could be seen applying colours to each other across the state.

In Chandigarh heavy police deployment could be seen at various places even as youth in cars and jeeps made rounds of various parts.

In neighbouring Haryana also Holi was celebrated in most parts barring some areas of Hisar district where the Jat agitation for seeking reservation in government jobs for the community is on.

Prakash Singh Badal set to become Punjab CM for 5th time

Creating history in Punjab, the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party combine is all set to regain power in the state, dealing a body blow to the Congress's chances and cocking a snook at naysayers.

The combine is leading in 67 seats, as opposed to the Congress which is ahead in 47 constituencies in the 117-seat House. Independents are leading in 3 seats.

Reports say that the leads are significant and could translate into actual results, give or take a couple of seats.

The Samajwadi Party today seems on way to getting a clear majority in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, where the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party led by Mayawati has been routed. Read More

Election results: SAD-BJP set to create history in Punjab with repeat win

CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal is all set to create history in Punjab. The party, along with its ally BJP, is cruising to victory, bucking anti-incumbency for the first time in the state's electoral history.

The winning streak began early on Tuesday, and by 2 pm, SAD (32) and BJP (11) had together bagged 43 seats to Congress' 33. SAD was leading in 21 seats and Congress in 16.

Around 2 pm, CM Parkash Singh Badal's media adviser Harcharan Bains addressed the media at Badal's home in Lambi, saying: "In the next few hours, SAD is going to emerge as the single largest party. We are on the verge of breaking 45-year-old record." The members of the Badal family, however, still chose to remain confined in the house and not make a public apperanace.

Rebel Manpreet Badal Punjab has been rejected by the electorate of the state losing both his seats, including Gidderbaha, a seat he has been winning for four terms.

The Congress' biggest blow came from what is considered its forte, the Doaba region of Punjab, which has a huge Dalit base. Mayawati may not have retained her magic in Uttar Pradesh but Punjab's Dalit belt has rejected the Congress that has lost in a number of seats and trailing in many in Jalandhar, in the heart of Doaba.

Punjab's malwa region, which sends the largest number of MLAs to the Assmebly has given a fractured mandate. This raises doubts over the hold of the Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda whose influence is said to be widespread in this region. The Dera has always played a big role in Punjab politics, especially in the way Malwa votes.
